Fourteen years ago, during the installation of the project, due to the heavy workload of the equipment manufacturer – with seven or eight projects under installation at the same time – there was simply no time to manufacture the auxiliary equipment. Towards the end of the installation process, one finished product filling tank had not been prepared yet. This was reported to the engineering department, which suggested using an old piece of equipment; accordingly, such an equipment was obtained from the company’s headquarters waste equipment storage area and installed for use. I never expected that after two years of use, when it was necessary to draw the finished product from the tank truck into the filling tank using a vacuum pump – with the vacuum pump being about 60 meters away from the tank – the tank ended up collapsing. The Safety Inspection Department fined the department 1,000 yuan on a monthly basis. The equipment in question was actually used equipment, and the head office encourages the reuse of such equipment; yet a fine was imposed anyway, and ultimately the appeal was rejected. The equipment department was aware of the original situation; no fines were imposed, just a conversation took place. Therefore, for future equipment upgrades and repairs, only new equipment can be used; old equipment must not be employed, not even a single flange. Everything must be considered from a safety perspective. The company only sees the results; it doesn’t notice that you have saved money.
It’s impossible without the old equipment; no matter who becomes the boss, it’s not possible
Every experience teaches us something; I can’t make the same mistake twice.
Personally, I think the problem lies in the operation and usage phase. You can’t say that the tank gets flat as soon as the pump starts pumping! It’s not clear what kind of liquid storage tank it is; there are no overflow pipes, balance pipes, water seals, nitrogen seals, or level gauges Is no one paying attention to loading and unloading? Surely they wouldn’t just use any enclosed tank as a storage tank!
The employee’s operation is correct; the vacuum tube is a DN50 stainless steel tube, while the material suction pipe is a DN50 plastic-wired tube. This suction pipe is connected to the vehicle’s discharge pipe, allowing for normal material suction.
The pipe is too narrow, or the viscosity of the material is too high, resulting in an insufficient flow rate. Vacuum pumping is likely to be used by many factories, and situations like yours do occur as well
Yes, it was due to the deadline set by the company, as well as to cut costs, but in the end it was me and the employees who had to bear the consequences.
This matter was handled in a rather frustrating way.
Why does it deflate? Can this storage tank not withstand negative pressure? Was the use under negative pressure not considered during the process design? It’s not clear who is responsible for this issue in terms of the manufacturing process
Safety is more important than anything else. . . Sometimes, the cost of buying new devices and accessories is just a short-term issue; once there are problems with security, those cannot be resolved with money. . . Therefore, before starting any project, it is necessary to discuss all safety aspects with the management before getting started. . . No matter how stingy a leader is, they won’t joke about work safety. . .
