In our company’s three horizontal tube intercooling pre-coolers, there was a problem with water spraying from the return pipe of pre-cooler No. 3. After investigating the issue, it was found that excessive air entering the return pipe of No. 2 caused an increase in pressure within the main return pipe, preventing water from No. 3 from entering the return system properly; as a result, water sprayed out from the top. The solution is to create an opening for exhaust between the main return pipes No. 2 and No. 3, which can temporarily alleviate the problem of water spraying from the top of the return pipe of Cooler No. 3. But the side effect is that some of the cooling water is discharged along with the gas. Does anyone have a way to help solve this problem? Thank you
Control the return water pressure through the return water valve
Control the return water pressure through the return water valve
At present, it is mainly the excessive air drawn in through the return water pipe that causes an increase in pressure in the return water main, preventing the return water from flowing back to the No. 3 primary cooler. Do you mean to reduce the flow rate of the return water valve so that the return water pipe for No. 2 is filled with water?
I don’t quite understand. Could you tell me why air gets in? Does solving the air intrusion problem mean everything is resolved?
The return pipe is open; the amount of water returning is low, and the drop in pressure along the return pipe is large, which causes air to be drawn in
Is it solved? Turn down the valve on the 2# return pipe a bit to balance things out and see if it works
Why should the return pipe vent be left open? Under normal circumstances, the air in the pipeline should be removed first, and then the relief valve should be closed
