Technical renovation of my coking unit – distillation of sulfur-containing wastewater containing oil 1. Name of the technical renovation: Renovation for the distillation of sulfur-containing oily wastewater; 2. Reasons for the technical modification: At the beginning of operations in the coking workshop, many processes were still in the exploratory stage. The sulfur-containing wastewater from the dehydration unit of the oil and gas separator at the top of the distillation tower was sent to the sulfur workshop as raw water. However, tests showed that this wastewater often contained gasoline – 5% gasoline was present in one sample of such wastewater – resulting in very poor separation efficiency! Operations such as adjusting the dehydration boundary position and stabilizing the outward transfer are not satisfactory. 3. Before the technical upgrade, the oily wastewater was directly drawn out from the dehydration package of the oil-gas separator at the top of the distillation tower. The main change made as part of the upgrade was to add a horizontal tank in the space below the separator, thereby increasing the settling time for the oily wastewater; this allowed the oil and water to separate properly before the wastewater was sent on to the sulfur processing unit. (As the process is simple, only a textual description is provided.) 4. Effects of the technical upgrade: The problem of oily content in the sulfur-containing wastewater separated in the reflux tank at the top of the distillation tower was completely resolved after the upgrade!
