According to 3.0.4 of the Petrochemical Regulations, the fire hazard classification of equipment shall be determined based on the fire hazard classification of the media it processes, stores, or transports. The anaerobic tank continuously produces biogas, whose main component is methane; in my opinion, it is appropriate to classify it as a Class A device. The amount of biogas produced is not fixed, making it difficult to determine the size of the storage tank. Then, the fire separation distance can be determined by referring to the stone construction codes. Personal opinions are not necessarily correct and are for reference only.

Looking forward to an accurate answer to the original poster’s question. Designing it as a Class A facility requires a large amount of space; the biogas slurry inside the tanks is non-flammable, and there isn’t much biogas at the top.
