In an EPC project, dozens of fixed-roof tanks of various sizes were equipped with foot bolts. The equipment in question is of high quality; the designer has worked at a large company before. He said it was the company’s professional standard policy. A quick search online confirms that the following information is available: regardless of whether anchor bolts are required for the calculation, DN5000 storage tanks use the anchor bolt pedestals from standard drawing XX2. If the calculations using the anchor bolts shown in the standard diagram do not meet the requirements, the designer should increase the number or diameter of the anchor bolts to satisfy the calculation criteria. In terms of the cost components, the cost of anchor bolts is indeed not high. However, when taking into account the materials needed for a tank, as well as the costs associated with construction and management, the total cost for this project still amounts to several tens of thousands of yuan. Is this really necessary?
Our storage tanks with a diameter of 11 meters don’t have any foot bolts. At first, we requested that foot bolts be added, but the design institute said that the design was approved as it was, and no foot bolts were necessary

It is necessary to calculate whether foundation bolts are required; if the lifting force of the storage tank exceeds its operating load, then foundation bolts seem to be needed. For more details, refer to GB50341
