When purchasing flanges locally, people talk about the weight in kilograms and the diameter in terms of the number of holes – for example, 59 kilograms with 80 holes. Beginners like me don’t quite understand this; I’m hoping experts can give some guidance. I’ve seen many references to DN25 or 1 inch, which I know, but I’m not clear on how to convert kilograms to pounds. Please don’t criticize me; I’m just seeking advice

You need to understand the units of pressure. Pressure is commonly expressed in kilograms, with the unit being kg·f/cm2; MPa, on the other hand, is measured in N/mm2. By making the conversion, you can see that roughly 10 kilograms of pressure equal 1 MPa. There is a corresponding relationship between the class rating and the nominal value. If the number following PN does not include a pressure unit, it can be referred to directly as the weight in kilograms.
