GB 50661-2011 Code for Welding of Steel Structures 5.7.4 When welding the joints between frame columns and beams in seismic structures using an L-shaped groove together with gaskets to achieve full penetration welding on one side, all of the gaskets as well as the starting and ending plates must be removed after welding is completed. . . . . Could the experts in design or steel structure construction please help address this requirement?
During design or construction, if L-shaped grooves together with gaskets are used to create fully penetrated single-sided welds for connecting the columns and beams of seismic-resistant structural frames, it is necessary to remove the gaskets as well as the entire length of the arc-starting plates and lead plates after welding is completed, in order to ensure the quality of the joint welds and the safety of the structure. .
