The buffer used in PVC production nowadays is food-grade sodium bicarbonate; can industrial-grade sodium carbonate be used instead? What is the reason?

Sodium bicarbonate is a weak base, and HCL is released during the PVC production process; it can only be neutralized by a weak base. If sodium carbonate is used, a violent reaction will occur, affecting the progress of polymerization.
We use food-grade sodium bicarbonate. It contains few impurities.
In fact, there is no need to use food-grade materials, as the amount of buffer used is very small; even if impurities are present, their impact is minimal. So it’s fine to use the industrial grade as well
