Dear colleagues and experienced professionals: In the production units for chlorination reactions, the exhaust gases generated during the process resulting from the reaction of liquid chlorine with alkanes consist of the following components (by volume percentage: 60% chlorine gas, 26% nitrogen, 10% hydrogen chloride, and 2–3% chlorides). To reduce costs, plans are in place to recycle nitrogen and chlorine. It can be that nitrogen and chlorine remain mixed and not separated, or they can be separated, with the rest being separated as well. I would appreciate it if experts and seasoned professionals could help discuss how to achieve effective separation and recycling. Thank you!

Due to process conditions, it is not advisable to use aqueous solutions for absorption and subsequent recycling after desorption, as this helps to reduce the amount of moisture that enters the system. It will corrode the equipment. All the gases separated are utilized separately. Thank you again!
With a higher proportion of chlorine, it is possible to attempt to burn it in combination with hydrogen in a graphite furnace to produce hydrogen chloride gas, which can then be used to obtain hydrochloric acid. The key is that the mixture contains chlorides; since the exact components are unknown, the hydrochloric acid obtained might be of industrial grade, and refining it could be difficult.
