There is a new process for converting potassium chloride directly into potassium carbonate: first, hydroacid (a special acid that contains only H+) is required; this hydroacid reacts thoroughly with potassium chloride to produce high-purity hydrogen chloride and potassium ions. The potassium ions then react with water under catalytic conditions to yield potassium hydroxide and hydroacid, with the hydroacid being reused in the process. Potassium hydroxide is carbonated with carbon dioxide to produce a potassium carbonate solution; this solution is then crystallized, filtered, and dried to yield the final product. The potassium carbonate produced by this process has high quality, exceeding that of potassium carbonate manufactured using the alkali process ； High-purity hydrochloric acid is produced as a by-product, which can offset production costs and results in low expenses ； The process is short and the investment is low; the savings in procurement costs alone over three years can be used to build such a setup.
