Recently, the groundbreaking ceremony for a soda ash production project with an annual output of 1.1 million tons, built by Qinghai Wucai Mining Co., Ltd., was held in the Dachaidan Industrial Park. This project was the one with the highest signing value at the 2008 Youth Business Forum, and it is one of the demonstration projects in the Qaidam Circular Economy Pilot Zone. Based on the abundant resources of raw salt, coal, and limestone in the Qaidam Basin, this project utilizes the chlor-alkali process to produce soda ash. With a total investment of 2.25 billion yuan and an area of 75,000 square meters, its construction is scheduled to take place between 2009 and 2010. Production and sales of heavy soda ash are expected to begin in 2011, generating annual sales revenue of 1.606 billion yuan, an annual net profit of 303 million yuan, and additional annual tax revenues of 608 million yuan.
