Generally, air is added to the drying tower to dilute SO2 before it enters the conversion process. Is there any sulfuric acid manufacturing plant that uses oxygen for dilution in order to reduce energy consumption?
Using pure oxygen will cause the tower temperature to become too high; its use is not recommended
If the SO2 concentration is low, it’s a good method, but the cost is high
We have one air fan and one SO2 fan; pure oxygen is added at the inlet of the air dryer and drawn into the system for production under high-concentration load conditions. Discontinue oxygen supply once the load returns to normal.
