During the resin polymerization reaction and the subsequent heating process, trace amounts of hydrogen chloride gas are released. Due to the unstable nature of perchlorates (which decompose easily when heated), they can react with hydrogen chloride to form more stable chlorates, thereby preventing hydrogen chloride from acting as a catalyst in the polymerization reaction or in the subsequent processing steps
