In the furniture industry, wood-like materials represent one of the main applications for rigid polyurethane foam. These materials are lightweight, and their density and strength are comparable to those of wood. Using such materials to manufacture furniture results in products that do not develop cracks after molding, while also reducing the costs associated with the production process. As public awareness of environmental protection continues to grow, wood-like materials will be used more frequently in the furniture industry, thereby taking the place of natural wood in furniture production. Our country is a major global producer and processor of furniture; considering the total amount of polyurethane used in the furniture industry during the 12th Five-Year Plan period ； During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, China’s furniture industry will continue to focus on expanding domestic demand and boosting urban consumption. As real estate policies in the country become increasingly stringent, the construction of affordable housing and low-cost housing will accelerate, and this industry will not be affected; in fact, demand for polyurethane among consumers is expected to grow at a rate of 5% per year. In the construction industry, rigid polyurethane foam is the preferred material for use in building insulation; it features a simple structure, a long product lifespan, high construction efficiency, a high fire resistance rating, and low overall costs. As China’s energy-saving and environmental protection policies are continuously implemented, the construction industry will face stricter challenges during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, and rigid polyurethane foam will be widely used in building insulation applications. In addition, as an important waterproof coating, polyurethane is widely used in building roofs, exterior walls, ceilings, basements, kitchens and bathrooms, roads and bridges. With the continuous development of China’s rail transit and high-speed railway industries, polyurethane waterproof coatings will also be extensively utilized in railway construction. Currently (in 2015), the consumption of polyurethane in China’s construction industry is around 1.25 million tons, accounting for 20% of the total consumption, while in developed countries the total consumption in this same industry is 15%. Based on data analysis, it is easy to see that rigid polyurethane foam in China still has significant room for development in the construction industry. In the shoe and leather industries, China is the world’s largest exporter and production hub for shoe products, accounting for 60% of the global total in terms of shoe production. Polyurethane (PU) is a type of material used in these industries; in addition, resins are primarily used in the manufacture of artificial leather and synthetic leather and other related products. Currently (in 2015), less than 10% of polyurethane paste is used in shoe soles, which is still far below the average level of developed countries. However, as China’s industrial production technology continues to improve, the manufacturing cost of polyurethane slurry will keep falling, and its development potential is beyond doubt. The transportation industry also makes use of polyurethanes; these include soft, rigid, and semi-rigid foam plastics, as well as polyurethane elastomers, polyurethane adhesives, polyurethane sealants, and polyurethane coatings. A finished car requires approximately 10 kg of polyurethane in total, and the amount of high-quality polyurethane materials used in a car is also one of the key factors in determining the car’s quality level. China is a major automobile country; both in terms of the volume of automobile production and the number of vehicles in use, it ranks first in the world. According to relevant statistics, China consumes nearly 400,000 tons of polyurethane in the automotive industry each year. With the continuous introduction of new energy vehicle models, there will be even greater room for growth in the consumption of polyurethane within the automotive industry. Apart from the automotive industry, China’s cold chain logistics sector is another field for the development of polyurethanes. As the living standards of people in our country continue to improve, more and more people are demanding an increasing amount of fresh flowers and aquatic products from various regions, which has driven the development of the cold chain logistics industry in our country. In the cold chain transportation industry, transport vehicles typically use rigid polyurethane foam core panels as insulation materials. Additionally, a large amount of polyurethane insulation material is required in the construction of cold storage facilities, which represents a significant advantage for China’s polyurethane industry. In the home appliance industry, polyurethane rigid foam is primarily used as insulation material in refrigerators and freezers. Under the same volume conditions, this material enables an increase in the internal volume of these appliances, thereby reducing the amount of material needed for the external casing. This not only lowers production costs but also reduces the weight of the refrigerators while improving their insulation properties. In our country, manufacturing a refrigerator of standard size requires approximately 6–8 kg of rigid polyurethane foam, while an ice chest needs about 11 kg of such foam plastic. China is a major country in refrigerator manufacturing, and it has gradually become a global hub for integrated refrigerator research, development, production, and distribution ； China uses approximately 800,000 tons of rigid polyurethane foam annually in the refrigerator manufacturing industry. As China’s energy-saving and emission-reduction policies continue to be implemented, the total amount of polyurethane used in refrigerators will show a downward trend, and various manufacturing companies will pursue a path of sustainable, environmentally friendly development. In addition, polyurethane rigid foam is also used as the insulating material for solar water heaters. China’s solar energy industry is an emerging industry; as the energy structure continues to be optimized, this industry will see further development, and polyurethane industrial products will gain even greater popularity. Polyurethane paving materials in the sports industry are widely used in the construction of plastic tracks in sports stadiums and public sports facilities, as well as for flooring in indoor basketball and volleyball courts. In previous years, the issue of \"toxic running tracks\" continued to escalate, pushing the entire industry into a state of low-quality competition; many small businesses operating without proper licenses took advantage of this situation to make huge profits ； As the quality of polyurethane products in our country continues to improve, the quality of polyurethane paving materials has also seen significant enhancements, with companies increasingly turning to environmentally friendly paving solutions. Other polyurethanes can also be used for packaging fragile goods, especially in the transport packaging of precision instruments, handicrafts, and fragile items ； Such products can also be used in fields such as aviation, aerospace, automobile manufacturing, and the production of liquefied natural gas transport vehicles (ships). 1.
