May I ask where the monoethanolamine tank of the extraction unit is located? Is heat tracing required, and how should the amount of monoethanolamine added be determined?
Monoethanolamine is generally injected into the solvent circulation loop or water circulation system; the tank can be placed in a nearby location. In northern regions, it is recommended to add insulation, and the heating should be gentle – electric heating elements for the pipes are advised. Heating is not recommended for the tank; monoethanolamine is volatile and absorbs moisture, so a nitrogen seal should be used. The injection of monoethanolamine is determined based on the pH value of the solvent or water in the system. If the pH value of the solvent or water is too low, 1–2 liters can be injected once per shift; however, this should still be determined by the process supplier, as monoethanolamine is a strong base, and excessive injection can lead to alkaline corrosion in the system.
May I ask how to control this amount of 1L per shift? We plan to use nitrogen pressure to push it into the system; the monoethanolamine tank was originally designed to be located on top of the stripping reflux tank, from where it will be injected. Now it is changed to be added to the backwash liquid from the tank outlet, returning to the extraction tower
