Dear experts, all the heterogenization solutions I found online in China are for medium-temperature processes. Yet Jinling Petrochemical has already developed a low-temperature catalyst with performance comparable to that of the I-8 catalyst produced by UOP in the United States. So why isn’t anyone pursuing domestic projects for low-temperature heterogenization? What information is available relates to low-temperature processes in Guangxi; these are those using imported UOP PENEX technology. With China’s current technical capabilities and research efforts, there should be no problem in developing low-temperature processes. I seek guidance on this matter. Generally speaking, low-temperature processes offer a recovery rate that is 2-3 percentage points higher than that of medium-temperature processes. Although the investment required is high, the long-term profits can be greater than those obtained from medium-temperature processes. So why aren’t such processes more widely adopted? Or has domestic technology for low-temperature isomerization encountered some bottleneck?

The main disadvantages of low-temperature isomerization abroad are as follows: First, the requirements for raw material pretreatment are more stringent, with the water content in the raw materials required to be no more than 1 ppm, which increases the initial investment and operational complexity; II. The waste alkali solution resulting from alkaline cleaning is difficult to treat and pollutes the environment ; Therefore, overall, domestic medium-temperature isomerization technology is more suitable for China’s national conditions.
