The light contaminated oil tanks in this unit are used to collect the condensate generated by the non-condensable gas compressors in the atmospheric and vacuum reflux tanks, as well as the condensate produced in the low sulfur fractionation tanks. Once the liquid level in these light contaminated oil tanks reaches a certain level, the liquid is pumped to the crude oil storage tanks. I have an idea for process improvement, which is to directly pump the light contaminated oil from the light contaminated oil tanks to the normal steam export valve assembly, so that it can be sent out of the facility along with the normal steam. In my opinion, there are the following differences before and after the technical upgrade: 1. Before the upgrade, lightly contaminated oil entered the crude oil storage tank; at a temperature of 45°C in that tank, part of the lightly contaminated oil would vaporize. After the upgrade, this problem can be avoided by sending the oil directly along with the normal gasoline. 2. Before the technical upgrade, changing the oil type was required each time dirty oil needed to be handled, but after the upgrade, only internal process adjustments are needed, reducing the amount of work involved. 3. After the technical Renovation, the light contaminated oil pumped each time passes through the normal vapor flow meter; this increases the gasoline production of the atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit, thereby helping to increase revenue while reducing costs. Light contaminated oil contains a relatively large amount of impurities. After the technical modifications, when this light contaminated oil is sent out together with gasoline, could it contaminate the entire gasoline product tank? And can it meet the quality requirements?
Our product usually enters the hydrogenation unit where it is hydrogenated to become hydrogenated naphtha, which is then used as a raw material in other units. The amount of lightly contaminated oil is actually very small, and it is pumped only once every few days.
The previously present light contaminated oil should not have been put into the crude oil storage tank. Using a gasoline-based build is the correct approach.
