After replacing the heat exchanger in the reformation mixed feed with a coiled tube type

Has there been any case where a reformation mixed feed heat exchanger was replaced from a plate heat exchanger to a coiled-tube type? If so, is the line used for low-flow combustion conditions still needed after the replacement? Coiled tube heat exchangers do not have strict requirements regarding temperature rises and falls; does this mean that they can be used in conditions of low flow rate combustion? I asked UOP’s FOS team, but they were unable to give a clear answer{:3_62:}

For the newly installed 1 million-ton reformation unit, whose coil tube heat exchangers are also designed to have a low-flow mode, no plant such as Sinochem (plate heat exchanger) has used this low-flow mode; according to them, there’s simply no time to make any adjustments in the event of an accident. So while this safety feature exists, it may not actually be put into use.
By the time a problem occurs and someone has to go to the site to manually open the valves, it will be far too late. It seems that for protecting the equipment and the manufacturing process in this way, it’s better to use interlocks or automatic systems
