Service life of special valves in catalytic units

This is generally not replaced if it’s not broken. The equipment is a bit expensive.

We haven’t replaced the special valve in our unit for almost twenty years; only the control panel and the base plate have been replaced. Additionally, during maintenance, the switching limits of the slide valve are adjusted, and the packing in the packing box is replaced. There seems to be no limited service life for this; it just needs to be maintained properly, just like the pumps used in organizations.

If the valve body is not damaged, there’s no need to replace it; the actuator and electronic components become unusable after too long.

There is no defined service life for slide valves; claims by some manufacturers that such a life limit exists are unfounded, as there is no data to support them. In fact, during each major overhaul of the slide valve, the guide rails, valve core, and valve stem are replaced; everything except the valve seat ring is new, and the valve body, flow guide cone, and seat ring are all protected by linings.

The valve body does not need to be replaced; the valve disc and valves should be inspected regularly, and the actuator can be upgraded.
