At the outlet of the standby pump for the constant bottom pump in the 5-million-ton atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit, gasket leakage occurs from time to time, inexplicably, while the system is in a preheated state. It leaves us utterly puzzled. Could everyone please analyze it? Thank you
1. The gasket is not in place properly. 2. Check whether there is steam leakage from the sweep line at the bottom of the tower and from the inlet of the pump. 3. The preheating speed is too fast. 4. Is there leakage in the oil used for flushing the mechanical seal? (Check the pressure on both sides of these fluids.) 5. Leakage occurs due to improper adjustments in the backstream.
What are the specific procedures and methods for preheating? Is it the insufficient preheating temperature of the outlet valve that causes uneven heating and cooling?
The flange surface may be slightly damaged, causing a leak.
It might be a stress issue in the pipeline design
It is likely caused by a large temperature difference between hot and cold; it occurs more easily at the check valve
There is a pressure buildup issue; as a result of long periods of standby, a large amount of oil and gas accumulates there, and over time this leads to pressures that exceed the design limits, causing leaks
If the opening degree of the outlet preheating valve is not appropriate and the temperature is insufficient, this leads to uneven heating/cooling; as a result, the bolts are heated unevenly, causing leakage at the gaskets. It might be advisable to use disc springs on both sides of the bolts.
I need help figuring out the approximate value of a vacuum distillation unit with an annual processing capacity of four to five million tons. It’s for my graduation project, so an approximate figure will suffice
