What are the hazards of excessively high initial catalyst activity?
Excessively high catalyst activity is unsafe. Excessive activity is detrimental to production, causing operational difficulties and affecting the safe and stable operation of the facility over extended periods.
When the activity is too high, the yield of the target product generally does not remain high; this can lead to over-reaction, changes in the product distribution, and even temperature spikes that cause coking. It also has an impact on the catalyst’s service life
High coke yield, low liquid phase yield, fluctuations in the regeneration process; in severe cases, carbon pileup may occur
1) The higher the catalyst activity, the higher the conversion rate. As the conversion rate increases, the selectivity of gasoline drops sharply, with a large amount of gas and coke being produced. 2) A large amount of gas will cause the originally designed compressors, absorption stabilization systems, and gas treatment units to operate beyond their capacity, which can even severely disrupt stable operation and damage the equipment. 3) A large amount of coke increases the coking load on the regenerator, which is thus limited by the power of the main fan and the regeneration temperature.
Excessively high catalyst activity leads to increased reaction depth, higher hydrogen consumption, greater temperature rise, difficulty in control, and reduced yield in the liquid phase
