Help: Why does the yield of C5 liquid decrease when there is a chlorine deficiency in the system? If the acidic functionality is weak, the cracking reaction decreases; the liquid yield should increase, while the LPG production should decrease. Why is that?
I don’t know; I’m just giving it a try in case that expert sees it

Chlorine deficiency is the result; UOP describes this phenomenon in terms of changes in water level – low water levels lead to an increase in acidity, while high water levels result in ‘stripping’ and the desorption of chlorides into the circulating hydrogen, thereby forming HCl and an increased acidity in the short term. Everything that follows is attributed to a decline in selection and activity. A similar understanding is the effect of sulfur on cat.

C5 does not participate in aromatic hydrocarbon conversion; it can only be isomerized or cracked into light hydrocarbons, with a relatively simple pathway. The reaction and water-chlorine balance mechanisms are theories that are still under development, and the explanations are limited to the framework of UOP units.

If the chlorine value decreases, it is very likely that your octane number will drop as well; if you do nothing, then the C5+ level should also increase. Maybe your operator increased the reactor temperature?
