Does magnesium oxide only serve as a carrier in catalysts?

Currently, on the market there is magnesium oxide and active magnesium oxide. What exactly is its role among various catalysts? How many companies are currently producing this product? As of now, it is known to include Zhuangxin Hengrui, Fujian Sanju, and Qingdao Lianxin. But it’s not known which processes will use them. I’m seeking advice from experts: which companies use it, and what is its purpose? Thank you all
