Is there any good way to handle the residue left after methanol distillation?
The residue can be recycled to extract the chemicals contained within it, or used as fuel. It can also be treated to make it harmless and then used as an industrial filler. .
I am not aware of your specific manufacturing process. I used to work in a company that produced sodium dithionite; the residues from methanol distillation contained large amounts of sodium ions and organic substances. The method adopted was to neutralize and recover sodium dithionite, with final disposal through incineration. These are just my personal opinions for reference only.
Methanol, as a production solvent, is the residue remaining after distillation in a distillation tower. It contains partially crystalline products, giving it a very high calorific value upon combustion.
This residue, which contains crystalline products and has a high calorific value upon combustion, can be used as an industrial fuel, or it can be processed appropriately to be used in the production of solid fuels. If the crystalline products in the residue have value for recovery, they can be separated and recovered through physical or chemical methods. .
