A 10KV high-voltage motor makes a humming sound when it is in operation. Is this normal? Why is there such a sound?
Is it noisy? Check if there are any abnormalities in shaft vibration and shaft temperature. Listen to see if it’s from the motor’s cooling fan or the front part. If it is at the cooling fan of the motor, then it is normal.
10KV high-voltage motor? What kind of motor is this? Such a high voltage – I’ve never seen anything like it; at most, it’s 6KV
How can axis vibration be measured or detected? The 10KV motors in my factory are water-cooled, and they make a humming sound. After checking, no problems were found – the current, temperature rise, and bearings are all normal. Could it be related to alignment issues, or is it normal for 10KV motors to make such sounds? The other 10KV motor, on the other hand, doesn’t make this kind of noise. I would appreciate some guidance

Don’t your motors have measurement points for shaft vibration and shaft temperature? Axial vibration can be measured using an axial vibration meter. First, determine the approximate location of the sound to see if it is at the shaft or at the motor’s cooling area.
The shaft temperature is present, and the measured temperature is normal; there is no shaft vibration either. Since no abnormalities were detected in the motor, yet a humming sound can still be heard constantly
Has the vibration meter measured the vibration values in the axial, longitudinal, and transverse directions?
Pay attention to the shaft current; check whether the design specifications and factory reports indicate the use of ordinary bearings, as it is likely necessary to replace them with insulated ones. Many people in the country do this, and the one we chose in Nanyang is the same as well.
I don’t understand – what does it mean to replace the bearings with insulated ones? Is there anything different about it?
