Issues related to preventing water leakage in factory buildings

Recently, two workshops in our factory have experienced leaks to varying degrees. How can we prevent this?
The roof needs to be waterproofed. It’s still leaking from the side.
Judgment is made based on the location of the leak, whether there are pipes or tanks in the vicinity, and whether cracks are present, after which appropriate measures are taken
(What are you standing there for! Find a basin to catch it in! .....) Just kidding. However, if the roof isn’t properly waterproofed from the start, it will take a lot of effort to carry out waterproofing work again, and there’s a possibility that leaks will continue.
This is hard to avoid; once it happens, the waterproofing has to be done over again
