New member’s question: We need to embed steel plates in the floors on the second and third floors, but the thickness of these floors is only 100 mm. There isn’t enough space for the anchor bolts when steel plates are embedded. Should we reduce the length of the anchor bolts, or should we thicken the floor at the location where the steel plates will be installed? If we do thicken it, should that be done on the floor side or on the ceiling below? ?
It depends on what the embedded steel plates are meant for; locally thickening the floor slab doesn’t serve much purpose. Consider embedding through-penetrating elements instead; If the load is high, it is recommended to add a beam at the corresponding location.

If the load capacity of the floor slab itself is sufficient (generally, the weight of equipment should be supported by the main and secondary beams), if the anchorage length of the compressive embedded elements is insufficient, additional anchoring rebar or angle steel can be used; in the case of tension, they can be welded directly to the horizontal and vertical rebar of the floor slab. Without beams, this load should not be sufficient
