The motor speed is related to the number of pole pairs in the motor, V=60f/P
The synchronous speed of a motor is given by V = 60f/P. Motors typically have 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, or 20 poles, corresponding to speeds of 3000, 1500, 1000, 750, 600, 500, 375, 330, 300, etc. The speed is related to the structure of the motor; the number of pole pairs in the motor is determined during manufacturing, which in turn determines parameters such as the motor’s asynchronous speed, efficiency, rated current, and voltage.
