PLC program execution issues

I’ve encountered a process control requirement and would appreciate some guidance from electrical experts: the customer operates in an intermittent mode, with shifts lasting 8 hours per day. My idea is to structure the PLC program into four steps – A, B, C, and D – and to have it execute these steps again in sequence after each completion； And so on. Is it possible to configure the PLC in such a way that on the first day, steps A and B are carried out, and the customer’s equipment stops operating? ； On the second day, steps C and D are carried out, and the customer’s shutdown equipment stops operating ； On the third day, carry out steps A and B again; the customer’s shut-down equipment will cease to operate ； On the fourth day, carry out steps C and D; the customer’s shutdown equipment will then stop operating ； And so on.
In principle, there’s no problem with it; but since the machine has to be shut down and the workers have to leave work, why not simply create two separate programs? On the second day, execution starts with the second program.
