2018, please go slowly! There are many \"ifs\" in life, but only one outcome. The past cannot be brought back, and what returns is no longer perfect. Forgetting is so easy to say, but so difficult to do. I used to think that having something was not easy, but later I realized that letting go is even harder. True love is about waiting. Anyone can say they love you, but not everyone can wait for you. Love and having loved – just one word more, yet a whole past in between. Remember: What cannot be forgotten is yesterday; what never ends is today; what cannot be predicted is tomorrow. There is no end to life, no end to hardships, no way to escape helplessness, endless lies to hear, human hearts that cannot be understood, concerns that cannot be let go of, and endless experiences of joy, sorrow, bitterness, and sweetness. This is life, this is existence! To be born is easy; to live truly is very difficult! What leaves are just scenery; it is what remains that constitutes life! After a tiring day, I jogged back to the dormitory. I was already very hungry and wanted to eat something before going back, but thinking about how tired I was, I just wanted to get back to the dormitory and go straight to bed. The weather was extremely cold today; the sun shone, but it didn’t bring any warmth at all. Those few hours I spent on top of the tower were truly freezing, yet even so, after finishing my tasks, I walked down slowly, using my trembling hands to hold onto the yellow handrails. Today is December 29, 2018, and it’s been the busiest day we’ve had at work recently. I climbed to the top of those towers that are dozens of meters high several times. Not long after lunch, there was a power outage suddenly, and several pumps in our area stopped working. Fortunately, we detected it in time; about six minutes later, we managed to get those three stopped pumps up and running again very quickly. Then there were more tests, and driving tasks kept us extremely busy; by the time it was almost time to leave work, we were still adjusting the pressure, liquid levels, and so on. As the year comes to an end, we are not only busy with work, but also because many people need to go home for the New Year. The reasons for going home are touching: singles go home to look for a partner, while those who are married go home to see their wives and children. Those working in the chemical industry live far away from residential areas and have no opportunity to meet the opposite sex, making it extremely difficult to find a partner or a spouse. Even when they manage to find a spouse, after getting married and having children, the two of them end up living apart, and they can only take advantage of the New Year to go home and see their wives and children. Someone praised the hours of overtime worked over the course of a whole year; throughout that time he refused to take time off to rest at home, saying that once he had accumulated enough overtime hours he would use them to take time off and go home to see his parents, as well as his wife and children. Plus, with the various personal gatherings at the end of the year, the different events organized by the company, and all those annual meetings, it’s really busy and exhausting – mentally exhausting. On my way home from work, I put on my headphones to listen to music, but I must have fallen asleep at some point. Perhaps I was just too tired that day, or maybe it was because the temperature outside was too low while the temperature inside was too high. In any case, someone woke me up and pulled me out of the car. I’ve read many people’s year-end summaries recently, as well as their reflections on what they have achieved and what they feel. For someone like me, who goes through the same days over and over again, year after year, there are no real achievements to speak of – all that remains is an increase in age and the passage of time. I really don’t want to do this, but what’s the use of having passion if we still have to lower our heads, give up our noble dreams, and crawl forward in tattered clothes? Other than that, I truly don’t know how much value I can still bring to life. In this era that changes at any moment, I too desire to pursue change in myself, but I know that young people tend to think too much and do too little; in the end, they remain hesitant and indecisive, and few of them actually put their ideas into action. Among those who do take action, even fewer manage to persevere, which is why those who stick it out are the true champions. Just as I set out to achieve at the beginning of the year, I was determined to find someone I like this year; yet so far I don’t even have a female friend. At the start of the year I vowed that I would get up early every day, but it’s either my roommate or the alarm clock that wakes me up. This must be the everyday life of people who lack self-discipline. A busy year is coming to an end, and I only hope that we can all reap rewards from our efforts; safety throughout the year is more important than anything else.
