The hydrolysis of reverse osmosis membranes can lead to a deterioration in the performance of reverse osmosis systems; therefore, it is necessary to strictly control the pH level of the water, keeping it within the range of 3–11. 2. If the FI value of the feed water exceeds the limit, dirt will accumulate on the surface of the membrane modules; in such cases, cleaning is necessary. 3. When insufficient amounts of sodium hypochlorite are added, resulting in an undetectable level of free chlorine in the feed water, the membrane modules of industrial pure water equipment can accumulate sludge, which increases the pressure difference. Therefore, it is necessary to strictly control the amount of free chlorine entering the membrane modules to prevent the membranes from oxidizing and decomposing due to levels exceeding the specified limits. 4. The water supply flow rate must not exceed the design value; otherwise, it will cause premature deterioration of the membrane modules. Furthermore, the flow rate of the concentrated water must not be lower than the design standard; otherwise, it will cause uneven flow within the pressure vessels of the industrial pure water equipment, and excessive concentration will lead to the formation of fouling on the membrane modules. 5. The high-pressure pump must not stop operating, otherwise the device is prone to failure. 6. In summer, when the water temperature is high, the flow rate of the produced water increases; reducing the operating pressure will lead to a decline in the quality of the produced water. Therefore, it is recommended to maintain the operating pressure and reduce the number of membrane modules. 7. As water temperature drops in winter, to prevent the precipitation of silica when the reverse osmosis system is shut down, low-pressure feed water should be used to replace the water inside the system. 8. Without proper compaction, the desalination efficiency of industrial pure water equipment will be reduced; therefore, an appropriate margin should be maintained for the inlet pressure. 9. A sharp increase in the pressure difference of the security filter is caused by the leakage of turbidity; a sharp decrease in the pressure difference is due to loose fastening screws of the components, or damage to the elements of the precision filter, among other reasons. 10. If the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the industrial pure water equipment is above the specified value, it indicates that the water supply flow rate is higher than the designed value, or that the membrane surface is contaminated. Adjust the flow rate again, or replace the membrane element.
