Construction of Henan Hongye Biology’s 20,000 tons/year bio-based **furan production facility begins

On July 12, the groundbreaking ceremony for the bio-based **furan production project of Hongye Bio-Technology Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Hongye Holding Group)** was held grandly in the Biomass Energy Industry Park of Nanle County. The main components of the project include a 20,000 tons/year furan production facility, a 20,000 tons/year **furan production facility, a 10,000 tons/year bio-based methanol production facility, a hydrogen production plant with a capacity of 5,000 cubic meters per hour, as well as various auxiliary facilities such as sewage treatment systems, flare systems, air separation and air compression units, substations, power distribution rooms, cabinet rooms, emergency tanks, heating furnaces, tank farms, and warehouses. The project under construction covers an area of about 70 mu, with a total investment of 620 million yuan. It will mainly produce bio-based furans, **furans, and bio-based methanol. Once completed, the project is expected to generate annual sales revenue of around 680 million yuan, annual profits of 158 million yuan, and annual tax payments of 58 million yuan. At the same time, this project complies with **relevant industry policies and** the requirements of the province’s strategy for green and low-carbon transformation. The initial raw materials are agricultural waste such as corn cobs and straw; they are non-grain biomass materials, and represent an industry that is **strongly encouraged and supported. The project construction period is 12 months. At present, the preliminary evaluations for the project’s design process package, environmental impact assessment, energy assessment, occupational health assessment, and safety assessment have been completed. It is expected that the civil work will be finished by the end of 2024, equipment installation as well as piping and wiring work will be completed in June 2025, and the plant will begin operations following trial runs in August 2025.
