At the site of the coal storage and distribution center project in Shuicheng District, Liupanshui City, Guizhou, 3 giant silos that stand like steel giants along with 3 large-scale enclosed coal storage areas have taken shape – Guizhou’s first large-scale intelligent coal storage and distribution facility is now in the final stages of construction, with completion expected by August this year. The project includes 3 enclosed coal storage facilities, each 350 meters long, 73 meters wide, and approximately 12 stories high; their scale is among the largest in the southwest region. Among them, 2 coal storage yards and the accompanying conveying systems have been fully built, providing the conditions for coal storage. The 3 large interconnected coal storage and distribution silos supporting it have been erected. The project’s total static coal storage capacity amounts to 1.2 million tons, with an annual handling volume of over 5 million tons; once completed, it will become a crucial coal logistics hub in the southwest region. According to the construction party, the construction of the coal storage silos in Shuicheng District utilized the mature slipform construction method. There are 3 interconnected silos, with corridors located at the lower part of these silos. Additionally, each coal storage silo has 4 funnels with a diameter of 6 meters at a height of 7.6 meters, which undoubtedly increases the difficulty of construction. Therefore, the method of secondary installation and removal of slip form was adopted for construction, with safety platforms set up to ensure the safety of the workers and to guarantee the safe and smooth progress of the work. Faced with the challenges of complex structures and high construction difficulties, the builders demonstrated great ingenuity. During the construction of the coal storage and distribution silo, for the large funnel structure with a diameter of 6 meters at a height of 7.6 meters, the \"two-stage installation and demolition slipform technique\" was innovatively adopted, which significantly improved efficiency while ensuring safety. The coal storage yard employs a large-span steel grid structure, which is rare in the southwest. By using a combination of the technique of lifting individual units one by one and bulk loading from heights, the risks associated with large-scale operations at high altitudes are overcome, thus achieving a balance between safety and efficiency. The coal storage yard is one of the few large-span steel grid structure projects in the southwest area. The Shuicheng District Coal Storage and Distribution Center is not merely a simple \"large warehouse\"; its core value lies in its powerful hub function. By leveraging the regional resources and transportation advantages, it will enable efficient connection between coal-producing provinces such as Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang and the high-quality coking coal available in Shuicheng. Through road and rail transport, it facilitates the stable collection, scientific allocation, and efficient transfer of coal resources, thereby ensuring timely fulfillment of the needs of nearby power plants and industrial enterprises.
