On July 25, the R101 hydrogenation reactor, a key piece of equipment for Hubei Jingmen Petrochemical’s 600,000 tons per year production facility for naphthenic specialty oils, was successfully lifted into place. It is reported that at 8:38 on the day of lifting, the core equipment of the newly built 600,000 tons/year naphthenic specialty oil high-pressure hydrogenation unit – the hydrogenation reactor – was lifted. On-site lifting is carried out through the coordinated operation of a 2,000-ton crawler crane as the main lifting device and an 800-ton crawler crane for assisting. Through numerous simulations and risk assessments, the project team overcame challenges such as the large size of the equipment and limited working space. At 11:41, the lifting was successful, and the hydrogenation reactor was successfully hoisted into place. To date, all 4 large reactors of this project have been installed. It is understood that the newly built 600,000 tons per year high-pressure hydrogenation plant for naphthenic specialty oils is a key project under Hubei Province’s initiative to shift from conventional oils to specialty oils. It also represents a major project aimed at accelerating the company’s transformation and upgrading since the establishment of Sinopec Specialty Oils Company. The products produced by this plant are intended for high-end applications, mainly in the production of naphthenic rubber plasticizers and transformer oil, among other high-value-added specialty oils.
