The steel structure installation and topping-out have been completed for the compressor buildings of units 3A (K1300) and 4A (L600, K650) in the Beifang Huajin Ethylene Project. Recently, the steel structure manufacturing and installation work for these units, carried out by China State Construction Steel Structure, was finalized, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent construction phases of the project. The project is located in the Liaobin Coastal Economic and Technological Development Zone in Panjin City, Liaoning Province, with completion of the mechanical installations expected by 2025. This project is a comprehensive strategic cooperation initiative between China and Saudi Arabia, witnessed and promoted personally by the leaders of both countries. It is also a major project aimed at implementing the strategy for the revitalization of the Northeast region as well as the Belt and Road Initiative. The project uses a 400-ton crawler crane to assemble the roof frame on the ground and then lift it to the top of the factory building for welding. The project was lifted in four stages, with each lifting operation taking less than an hour. Crawler cranes were used to lift and position the framework; after it was secured, additional reinforcement welding was carried out. The 3A and 4A workshops were both lifted on schedule, in accordance with the planned construction milestones. The main type of structural elements used in the pipe galleries in front of the cracking furnaces in ethylene production plants are pipe supports. The biggest challenge in projects involving such steel structure components is to establish a stable framework structure rapidly during installation; maintaining such a stable framework can significantly improve installation efficiency and reduce errors related to deformation. The project team adopted a method in which the first steel column in the middle was installed first, followed by the steel beams and the components of the first column; thereafter, the main beams, vertical diagonal bracing, horizontal diagonal bracing, and other beams in the structure were installed. The scaffolding was divided into \"units\", with each unit being installed separately. It enables the pipe gallery to form a stable framework structure in a short time, greatly improving installation efficiency by \"building supports\" in a manner similar to building with blocks.
