On September 30, at the site of the Tarim 1.2 million tons per year Phase II ethylene project of Dushanzi Petrochemical Company, intermediate handover ceremonies were held successively for the Utility and Auxiliary Facilities II circulating water plant, which was constructed by CPECC Sichuan Oil Construction Company, and for Pipe Gallery No. 5, which is part of the plant’s thermal systems and above-ground pipeline network project that was EPC-general contracted by a consortium consisting of CPECC Southwest Branch, CPECC Sichuan Oil Construction Company, and the First Construction Company. Circulating water plant No. 2 consists of 14 cooling towers, which will supply circulating cooling water to the 7 units and auxiliary systems of the Tarim Phase II ethylene project. At the technical and design level, this circulating water system boasts many highlights: it adopts an ecological control system based on the APL protocol for the first time, enabling smarter control with fewer cables, smaller cabinet spaces, and faster transmission speeds, thus setting a new benchmark for industrial digital transformation ; By eliminating the underground pump room, the risk of flooding in that area is eliminated at its source, thereby greatly improving the convenience of operation and maintenance. This outstanding achievement by CCCC, which was completed 3 months ahead of schedule, reflects the dedication and skill of the construction workers – who tied rebar in high temperatures while paying close attention to ensuring the correct overlap, and who welded while lying on their sides in extreme cold, keeping a close eye on the weld pool to maintain control over the weld seam. The plant’s thermal systems and above-ground pipeline networks feature a high standard of \"fully bolted, weld-free\" construction that is truly impressive. The above-ground pipe gallery of the entire plant represents the first steel structure project in China’s refining and chemical industry to be designed through cross-disciplinary collaboration; each steel component is assigned a unique code, which is an innovation resulting from the use of digital technologies. All of the nearly 17,000 tons of steel structures in the plant’s above-ground pipe galleries were connected using pre-fabricated bolts; they form a magnificent dragon-like structure that winds its way across the construction site, demonstrating the great power of digital technology in engineering construction. Thanks to the diligent efforts of all the parties involved, the project was completed with high quality in just 11 months, demonstrating the great power of collaboration among all stakeholders and serving as another model for project implementation.
