The 108.5-meter-high granulation tower for Hebei Zhengyuan’s 300,000-ton synthetic ammonia project was successfully completed. Recently, the granulation tower of the Hebei Zhengyuan project, which was constructed under EPC general contracting by China Five Rings Engineering Corporation affiliated with Sinochem, was completed, marking the entry of the project construction into a phase of intensive installation work and final civil engineering tasks. As a key project in Hebei Province, the project has a total investment of 2.884 billion yuan. It is built using the independently developed \"high-efficiency synthesis, low-energy consumption urea technology,\" with the aim of creating a complete industrial chain that includes air separation, gasification, purification, ammonia synthesis, urea production, as well as various auxiliary facilities. Once the project is completed and put into operation, it will produce 600 million cubic meters of hydrogen, 300,000 tons of synthetic ammonia, and 520,000 tons of urea per year. This will help drive the local coal chemical industry toward higher levels of sophistication, intelligence, and low carbon emissions, thereby contributing to the optimization of the energy structure in North China. In this struggle against gravity and time, the project team created an amazing \"aerial ballet\" through the sliding mode technique. Operating in a 24/7 two-shift continuous mode, the technicians act like \"acrobats in the air,\" lifting formwork units weighing over ten tons onto a platform at a height of 108.5 meters, and moving them upward at a constant speed with millimeter-level precision in rhythm with the concrete pouring process. To ensure the quality and safety of night-time construction, the project team implemented a \"day-and-night shift\" system; engineers stayed at the site throughout the night, acting as \"watchkeepers\" in the darkness, using their expertise and sense of responsibility to oversee the development of every inch of the cylinder. This slipform construction technique, hailed as a \"cutting-edge technology in construction,\" imposes almost stringent requirements on construction skills and management capabilities. During construction, concrete must be poured in precise layers into the formwork channels; only after the lower layer of concrete has reached a certain strength can the formwork channels be slid upward along the hardened surface. This repetitive process requires not only absolute stability in the lifting speed of the formwork but also ensures that the concrete is evenly distributed and compacted during dynamic construction; there is no room for any mistakes at any stage. Faced with the challenges of extreme winter and summer weather, the project team launched a sustained scientific and technological effort to overcome these difficulties. The PR team made dozens of trips to the concrete mixing plant, and through hundreds of formulation tests, they successfully overcame the challenges posed by the heat of hydration in large-volume concrete during winter, as well as the fluctuations in the setting time of slip form construction caused by temperature differences between winter and summer. In terms of safety management, the project team has established a three-pronged control system comprising frequent inspections, targeted audits, and systematic corrective actions. There are more than 3 safety inspections per day, over 20 targeted inspections have been carried out, and more than 60 safety hazards have been eliminated, thereby creating a solid safety barrier for the construction work.
