On the 2nd of this month, the new type of sling-based anti-corrosion construction robot developed by the company’s Mechanical Department (Anti-Corrosion Company) passed various tests in field trials, managing to move along the circumference of the tank’s wind-resistant structure as well as over complex structures such as angles. All performance metrics met the expected standards, demonstrating the company’s technical capabilities and contributing to technological advancements in the industry while providing intelligent solutions. The anti-corrosion work during tank construction is related to the service life of the tank. Due to the complex structures on the tank walls, such as wind-resistant rings, fire sprinkler supports, and angle irons, the automation level of anti-corrosion treatment operations is low. Traditional construction methods involve the use of scaffolding or manual hoists; these approaches take a long time, place heavy demands on workers, and carry high safety risks associated with working at heights. Faced with the growing market for the construction and maintenance of storage tanks, the company urgently needs to develop specialized anti-corrosion construction equipment for the outer walls of such tanks. To this end, the company has concentrated its research efforts and established a dedicated R&D team. After 16 months of intensive research, the R&D team overcame challenges such as the robot’s ability to move in a circumferential direction within the wind-resistant enclosure, the control of multi-axis robotic arm coordination, and the traversal of complex tank wall structures, and successfully developed a new type of suspension-type robot for anti-corrosion construction on storage tanks. The new sling-type tank anti-corrosion construction robot is primarily used in the field of anti-corrosion work on the outer walls of tanks. It enables stable operation during construction on large external floating roof tanks, and plays an important role both in the anti-corrosion treatment of newly built tanks and in the major anti-corrosion repairs of existing tanks. Through technical integration, robots break away from traditional working methods; by combining efficiently with automatic control systems, they enable a \"one-click\" intelligent operation mode for tank construction, thereby driving the company’s tank construction processes toward greater intelligence, safety, and efficiency. Equipped with a remote control system and a multiple safety protection system developed independently, this robot is capable of planning automated anti-corrosion paths and carrying out precise operations, thereby effectively avoiding human error. It significantly improves the stability of coating application quality, reduces paint waste, increases construction efficiency by 30%, and also addresses the safety risks associated with work at heights, providing solid protection for the safety of workers and the smooth progress of projects. Furthermore, robots can be equipped with actuators with various functions to expand their capabilities, meet the diverse needs of construction projects, and broaden their scope of application.
