Precise installation of the inner tank in a low-temperature liquid ammonia storage tank in Jiangsu Andefu was carried out recently. The inner tank of Jiangsu Andefu’s 49,000 cubic meter low-temperature liquid ammonia storage tank project has been successfully installed in place, marking the official transition of the project to the stage of functional testing of the inner tank and laying a solid foundation for subsequent pressure tests. To ensure the safety and precision of the tank lowering operation, the project team made thorough preparations in advance. During the process, on-site supervision was carried out throughout, with real-time monitoring of the operation’s accuracy and photographic records kept. Safety measures were intensified at every level: a double-layer security barrier was set up in the area where the tanks are lowered; all concurrent operations were suspended within the radius of rotation of the cranes; workers working at heights were equipped with safety belts with dual hooks; tools and equipment were secured using drop arrestors. As a result, safe tank lowering was achieved without any safety hazards.
The Su’andufu project, which involves the construction of a 49,000 m3 storage tank for cryogenic liquid ammonia along with related facilities, is one of Nanjing’s key projects for 2024. It is located in the Yudai area of the Nanjing Jiangbei New Materials Science and Technology Park. The land area allocated for this project is 168 mu, with an estimated total investment of 700 million yuan. In the first phase of the project, a 49,000 m3 storage tank for cryogenic liquid ammonia (propane and butane), two 3,000 m3 storage tanks for liquid ammonia at normal temperature (propane and butane), as well as road-based loading and unloading facilities, will be constructed, along with other associated infrastructure. Project management adopts the EPC general contracting model, with a construction period of 15 months, or 450 days in total, and completion is scheduled for the end of 2025. In the future, Phase 2 plans to include the construction of 2 low-temperature storage tanks with a capacity of 80,000 m3 each, 4 spherical tanks with a capacity of 3,000 m3 each, 3 storage tanks at normal temperature with a capacity of 7,000 m3 each, as well as related supporting facilities.
