Dear experts, must the pressure relief emissions from LNG liquefaction plants be discharged through centralized vent pipes? Since the project involves the purification and liquefaction of well gas, that is, LNG production, can the released gas be directly connected to the well gas pipeline of the LNG liquefaction plant?
Do you mean the gas released by the factory’s safety valves when you talk about gas release? You want to recover this portion of the vented gas and feed it into the plant’s raw material gas inlet, right? I personally think it’s not okay. This is because you are considering the recovery of vented gases from the perspective of minimizing losses, but from a process perspective this approach is not feasible. The reasons are as follows: 1. The venting system needs to be connected to the atmosphere; the venting pipeline system operates at atmospheric pressure, which ensures that pressure can be safely released from the isolated system into the outside environment. If you attempt to recover these gases at the raw material gas inlet, pressure will be present there, meaning the venting system will no longer be at atmospheric pressure but under pressure instead. This does not conform to the principles of venting systems nor to relevant standards. 2. Exhaust systems are not only used to release excess pressure in natural gas; some of them also incorporate waste gases and other impure gases. Such gases cannot be reused as feed gas, as this would increase the impurity content in the product, resulting in impure LNG. It would also increase the risk of low-temperature condensation, which could lead to blockages in the cooling tanks. Even if such gases are removed by the system, repeated removals and re-inclusion would cause a cycle of accumulation, leading to an endless problem. 3. Under normal operating conditions, the amount of natural gas lost through the exhaust pipes is not that significant, so there’s no need to worry too much about it.
