The first LNG project capable of separating ethane on a scale of 10 million tons has passed the approval process. Recently, the feasibility study report for the project aimed at utilizing the cooling energy from LNG to carry out precise extraction of natural gas, undertaken by CPECC’s Southwest Branch and carried out by Nantong LNG Natural Gas Sales Company, was approved. As China’s first LNG project capable of separating ethane on a scale of tens of millions of tons, the construction of the Nantong LNG Cryogenic Energy Utilization Project for the refined extraction of natural gas is of great significance for the efficient utilization of ethane, enhancing the value chain benefits of LNG, and facilitating the overall restructuring of China National Petroleum Corporation’s industrial framework. During the implementation process, CPECC Southwest Branch assigned experienced technical experts to form a design team, which carried out optimization work and research on various topics related to key equipment. Hundreds of process simulations were conducted for special processes involving different feed materials and ratios, and nearly 10 internal expert reviews were carried out on the results obtained, ultimately leading to high-quality feasibility study outcomes. In recent years, CPECC Southwest Branch has seized the opportunities presented by the development of natural gas, organized its innovation efforts around the industrial chain, and formulated medium- to long-term plans for scientific research and development as well as the improvement of core technologies. It has continuously worked to upgrade its own technologies in areas such as natural gas purification, cryogenic processing of natural gas, and storage and transportation projects. Projects such as the Tarim Light Hydrocarbons Recovery Project and the Tarim Ethane Recovery Project have been completed one after another, continuously driving the processing of oil and gas in China toward an era of advanced refining.
