Beijing Gas Tianjin Nangang LNG Terminal achieves zero emissions again through full-ship reverse loading

On March 2, it was reported from Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area that recently, the LNG carrier PRISM BRILLIANCE, with a length of 298.98 meters and a width of 48 meters, successfully docked at Beijing Gas’ Tianjin Nangang Terminal. Upon berthing, the staff at the receiving station promptly began the pre-cooling process, completing all pre-cooling tasks by 16:00 on the same day, after which they moved on to the reverse loading phase. After 44 hours of continuous effort, the reverse loading operation of 67,000 tons of LNG was successfully completed at 12:00 on February 26, with zero flare emissions throughout the process. Reverse loading is a key step in bonded international trade, and the technical challenges mainly lie in the treatment of boil-off gas (BOG) after the ship and shore are connected. Under traditional operating modes, excess BOG usually needs to be treated by flaring. Under zero-flare emission mode, excess BOG is typically treated through re-liquefaction or comprehensive utilization, which helps achieve a win-win situation for both energy utilization and environmental protection. In this assignment, the team at the Beijing Gas Tianjin Nangang LNG receiving station drew fully on the successful experience gained at the beginning of the month when the \"WUDANG\" vessel was reversed in position without any flare emissions. They transformed the operational procedures into standard operating manuals, further optimized these procedures, and maintained close communication with the ship’s crew to ensure precise coordination – thereby achieving zero flare emissions once again during the reverse positioning of the vessel. As the first reverse loading operation completed in the Year of the Horse, this zero-flare emission not only helped the client save on resource consumption and economic costs, but also demonstrated the excellent technical capabilities of the Beijing Gas Tianjin Nangang LNG Terminal in providing high-quality services in the field of bonded operations, thus securing a successful start for such operations in the new year.
