For liquefied gas, total sulfur refers to the sum of hydrogen sulfide, thiols, thioethers, and other sulfides, while sulfur content denotes only thiols!

The total sulfur in oils or liquid hydrocarbons refers to the sum of their elemental sulfides, organic sulfides, and elemental sulfur (in some hydrocarbons, elemental sulfur may precipitate during the processing stage). The sulfur content referred to in general terms denotes total sulfur; for specific forms of sulfur, there are usually specific indicators, such as inorganic sulfur (hydrogen sulfide, carbonyl sulfide, and elemental sulfur), organic sulfur (everything other than inorganic sulfur), thiol sulfur, disulfides, thiophenes, etc. Analyzing these different sulfides may require various analytical methods. Even for determining total sulfur, there are several different methods.
The total sulfur in liquefied gas should be the sum of the masses of all sulfur elements, including organic sulfur and inorganic sulfur.
