Are you using Basic Blue 6B, or Alkaline Blue 6B? These two reagents are different, and it’s easy to get them mixed up. When measuring acidity or acid value, it is sometimes necessary to add a significant amount of KOH in ethanol solution in order to neutralize the carbonic acid present in the solution.
The basic blue 6B indicator from Guangfu and Comio is not a proper indicator; it is recommended to use the one from Guangfu.
