Spend some money and have someone help you assemble it.
Adjusting the pH with ammonia must be done in a fume hood; what you mean by it being irritating to the eyes probably happens outside the fume hood. There’s no perfect solution – the solution is just a bit irritating, and one has to find ways to minimize the harm while preparing it, or else wear a gas mask to avoid smelling the ammonia.
