In the determination of carbonyl compounds in methanol, zeroing is done with water; the absorbance of both the blank and the sample is measured, and the value of the blank is subtracted during calculation； So, can it be zeroed directly with a blank to measure the absorbance of the sample?
Does doing that increase the perceived error?
I don’t think it’s possible; this is similar to the determination of ammonia nitrogen in wastewater, as in both cases the blank value needs to be subtracted during calculations, which helps to minimize errors as much as possible.
