On June 23, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued a notice stating that it intends to review the environmental impact assessment documents for Xinjiang Tianchi Energy Co., Ltd.’s 2 billion cubic meters per year coal-to-natural gas project in Zhundong, as well as for **Energy Group’s 2 billion cubic meters per year coal-to-natural gas project in Zhundong. Both coal-to-natural gas projects are located in the Zhundong Economic and Technological Development Zone in Xinjiang, with a total investment of approximately 34.08 billion yuan. The 2 billion cubic meters per year coal-to-natural gas project of Xinjiang Tianchi Energy Co., Ltd. in Zhundong is located in the Jiangjunmiao Industrial Park of the Zhundong Economic and Technological Development Zone in Xinjiang. The total investment in this project amounts to 17.039 billion yuan, of which 1.912 billion yuan is allocated to environmental protection measures, accounting for 11.22% of the total investment. The project includes the main structure, storage and transportation facilities, auxiliary systems, and environmental protection measures. The main projects include 12 units such as gasification, shift reaction, low-temperature methanol washing, methane synthesis, compression and drying of synthetic natural gas, natural gas liquefaction, gas-water separation, phenol and ammonia recovery, hydrogen production via water electrolysis, carbon capture, compression refrigeration, and air separation ； Storage and transportation engineering includes storage tanks and loading/unloading stations, etc ； Auxiliary facilities include circulating water systems, substations, boilers, and flare systems, etc ； Environmental protection projects include waste gas incineration facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, hazardous waste temporary storage areas, and more. The project relies on coal mines, coal conveyance pipelines, off-site water supply projects, wind power facilities, power transmission facilities, natural gas pipelines, carbon dioxide capture, storage and enhanced oil recovery projects, an industrial park accident water pond, a waste dump within the park, and hazardous waste disposal facilities, among others. **The Jundong 2 billion cubic meters per year coal-to-natural gas project of the Energy Group is located in the Xiheshan Industrial Park of the Jundong Economic and Technological Development Zone in Xinjiang. The total investment in this project amounts to 17.044 billion yuan, of which 2.937 billion yuan is allocated to environmental protection measures, accounting for 17.23% of the total investment. The project includes the main structure works, storage and transportation works, heating works, auxiliary public works, and environmental protection works. The main projects include 9 units for air separation, coal gasification, shift and cooling, acid gas removal, methanation, LNG liquefaction, sulfur recovery, hydrogen production via water electrolysis, and carbon capture ； Storage and transportation engineering includes coal storage and transportation, liquid storage tanks, and loading/unloading stations, etc ； Heating projects include power stations, waste heat recovery, etc ； Auxiliary facilities include water treatment plants, circulating water systems, substations, flare systems, etc ； Environmental protection projects include sewage treatment systems, VOCs emission control devices, solid waste storage facilities, and more. The project relies on various external facilities and projects, including off-site coal conveyance pipelines, off-site power supply facilities, off-site photovoltaic power generation, carbon dioxide transportation and enhanced oil recovery projects, an accident water pond within the park, a waste dump within the park, and hazardous waste disposal facilities.
