On June 27, the 16th themed dialogue on “Green Development and Low-Carbon Living” was held in Beijing. At the event, the “2025 Low-Carbon Cases” were announced; China National Petroleum Corporation was included in this list for the 14th consecutive year, thanks to its outstanding performance in green and low-carbon development as well as environmental protection. Liu Zhenmin, China’s Special Envoy on Climate Change, attended the event. Guided by the General Secretary’s philosophy on ecological civilization, China National Petroleum has accelerated its pace of green transformation. It has innovatively established a green enterprise development mechanism based on the principle of \"four simultaneous efforts,\" created a reputation for biodiversity protection and the initiative \"I plant a tree for carbon neutrality,\" and is actively building a \"low-carbon energy ecosystem\" in order to transform itself into a comprehensive energy provider offering oil, gas, heat, electricity, and hydrogen. In 2024, China National Petroleum’s domestic natural gas production accounted for 54.4% of the total oil and gas production volume, while the country’s capacity for developing and utilizing new energy sources exceeded 12 million metric tons of oil equivalent per year. The Daqing Oilfield case was selected as a green and low-carbon example for 2025 by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, while the Jilin Oilfield case was included in China News Service’s report titled “Embracing a Zero-Carbon Future: 2025 Youth Low-Carbon Practice Report”. Additionally, China National Petroleum Corporation was ranked first in the industry assessment of green development capabilities conducted by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council for two consecutive years, demonstrating the role of central state-owned enterprises in advancing ecological civilization. In terms of the development of the carbon market, Sinopec received the \"National Carbon Market First-Day Trading Group Certificate\" in 2021; its subsidiaries, Dushanzi Petrochemical, CNPC Energy, and International Business Company, were awarded titles such as Outstanding Trading Practice Enterprises in the National Carbon Market for three consecutive years starting in 2022. Thanks to the world’s first green transition trade loan framework under a carbon-neutral LNG long-term contract, International Business Hong Kong Company was awarded the “Excellence in Vision for Green Transition Loan Framework” prize by the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency. It was also recognized by the China Enterprise Confederation and the China Entrepreneurs Association as an “Outstanding Practice Example for Corporate Green and Low-Carbon Development in 2023”. As a leader in the industry, CNPC actively fulfills its role as the chairman of the \"China Oil and Gas Companies Methane Emission Control Alliance.\" It participates in formulating the future strategic goals for addressing climate change set by the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI), and has joined the \"Oil and Gas Decarbonization Charter (OGDC).\" Together with more than 50 international energy companies, it works to reduce carbon emissions, contributing \"Chinese wisdom\" to global environmental and climate governance. This event was organized by China News Service’s China News Weekly, under the guidance of the Beijing Municipal People’s Government. Responsible officials from relevant departments and agencies such as the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, as well as representatives from related enterprises, attended the event.
