On July 25, the process flow for the 250,000-ton/year methyl methacrylate conversion unit in Jilin Petrochemical Company’s acrylonitrile plant was fully established, enabling a successful commissioning on the first attempt; this marked the beginning of the operation of the new chemical units as part of the plant’s transformation and upgrading project. This project is one of the key supporting facilities for the transformation and upgrading of Jilin Petrochemical Company’s new chemical production units. Once operational, the acrylonitrile methyl ester production capacity of this plant will reach 250,000 tons per year, enabling the production of high-purity products to be used in items such as plexiglass. The project team carried out process optimization and upgrades to core units such as extraction towers and refining vacuum pumps, resulting in a methyl methacrate production line that features low material and energy consumption, high product quality, and strong environmental compatibility. Construction on this project began on September 25, 2022, and after two and a half years of intensive work, it was completed to high standards on April 30, 2025. During the construction process, the factory worked in collaboration with the project management office in the western area to establish a 24/7, grid-based supervision and management system. For each stage of the project, the \"three-inspection system\" for quality checks by the construction unit, supervision unit, and project team is strictly implemented. By focusing on the “four interventions,” using production preparation to drive project construction, high-quality completion of tasks such as 3D model review, “three inspections and four determinations,” and rectification of remaining issues is ensured. To date, the project has seen 439 pile foundations completed, 532 meters of underground pipelines installed, 6,266 cubic meters of concrete poured, 468.8 tons of steel structures fabricated, 58,306.25 inches of process pipelines laid, 169 sets of process equipment installed, 419.57 kilometers of electrical cables installed, and 405.13 kilometers of instrument cables installed. To ensure that the equipment operates in a manner that is safe, environmentally friendly, orderly, controlled, civilized, efficient, and compliant, senior leaders provided direct supervision, professional technicians worked on the front lines, and key personnel at the grassroots level remained committed throughout the process. Tasks such as the coordinated testing of 148 rotating devices, the testing of 154 interlock circuits, the commissioning of vacuum pumps in the refining units, the operation of chillers in the cooling stations, and the trial operation of material transfer processes were completed according to the scheduled timelines. Units such as the Electrical and Instrumentation Center (Testing Center) and the Quality Inspection Center provided full support. All personnel involved in the operation fought day and night with a high sense of responsibility and excellent professional skills, capturing key positions in order to ensure that the installation could be brought online efficiently and under controlled conditions throughout the process.
