According to Sinochem New Network, on November 25, a sub-forum of the 2025 Conference on the High-Quality Development of the Private Sector in China’s petroleum and chemical industry was held in Tianjin: the Forum on the Exchange of Scientific and Technological Innovation Achievements from **-level innovation platforms in the petrochemical industry. Numerous researchers from national and provincial innovation platforms, as well as technical experts from the business community, discussed cutting-edge innovations, drawing significant attention from the representatives of private enterprises present. The old topic of industry-university-research collaboration continues to carry the responsibility of meeting the essential need for the transformation of scientific and technological innovations, as well as the expectation of driving high-quality development in the industry. Li Bin, vice president of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, analyzed that due to their short history, a large proportion of enterprises in China are small and medium-sized, and they possess weak capabilities in technological innovation; as a result, private enterprises in China have an even greater need for scientific and technological achievements. He hopes that through this forum, a bridge can be built between the innovative achievements of research institutions and the needs of private enterprises to break through challenges, as well as to support local economic development, thereby promoting the rapid growth of private enterprises in the petrochemical industry. The person in charge of the Laboratory Department at the Tianjin Science and Technology Bureau said that Tianjin boasts significant advantages in science and education as well as a strong industrial foundation; going forward, efforts will be made to provide better services and support to promote the deep integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation. The head of the Science and Technology Bureau of Binhai New Area in Tianjin outlined the 4 key areas in which the petrochemical industry in Binhai New Area will focus on making breakthroughs during the 15th Five-Year Plan period: the first is to strengthen the source side and increase the rate of local conversion of crude oil ; Second, strengthen efforts to tackle key challenges and streamline the transformation chain of scientific and technological achievements ; Third, precisely extend the value chain to elevate its value level ; Fourth is green development, to lay a solid foundation for low carbon emissions. Chu Jian, founder of Zhongkong Technology Co., Ltd., illustrated the value and potential of industrial artificial intelligence (AI) through the company’s products such as the time-series large model (TPT) and the universal control system (UCS), providing a reference for private enterprises on how to advance technological innovation. Eight experts and scholars from institutions such as the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as Tsinghua University, Tianjin University, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Dalian University of Technology, Nankai University, and Tianjin University of Science and Technology, presented the research achievements of their respective teams.
